Him: "Well, we qualified you for the X plan, so either you or your wife, or a relative has a PIN. This is the first time I've heard about a PIN." Him: "You know, the PIN that goes with your X plan." Says he needs the pin number for the X plan so they can process the sale with Ford. The salesman who I spoke with on the phone calls.

Us: (with a shrug) "OK." And we got back to crunching the numbers, and he made it work. Comes back with, "Good news! You qualify for the X plan. He runs off to the (I guess) sales manager. My father-in-law: "Such and such Building Products." Me: "Such and such Regional Medical Center." The salesguy says, "Do any of you qualify for the X plan?" They weren't really exactly where I wanted them, and we got up to leave. No sideairbags but my wife decided she would trade those for the sunroof. The closest thing they had was sitting right there in the showroom: a black Limited with leather, rear parking sensors, and a sunroof. He really tried to find something that would work.

Fortunately for him, the salesman I spoke with on the phone was not there that day, and we had a different guy who was really nice. In fact, they don't have an SEL on the lot equipped the way I wanted it. They have a grey one with leather and rear parking sensors, but no side airbags. Before driving 70 miles, I specifically asked the salesman if they had that particular car in stock (three times I asked, twice via email and once on the phone), and my wife asked once on the phone. Wanted an SEL, grey, with leather, side airbags, and rear parking sensors. Ok, so i'm really unhappy with my dealer right now.
